A fumaça em torno do Bloc Party

* Tava eu assistindo uns vídeos da performance da banda inglesa Bloc Party no programa do Jools Holland, na semana passada, e pensando o que deu de errado com uma banda que, num resumo rápido da carreria, explodiu com singles poderosos de um rock quebrado tipo em 2004/2005, botou o cool vocalista negão no mapa da new music, fez um excelente primeiro disco, um segundo bacana, lotou Reading Festivals e Glastonbury(s) e daí resolveram ''dar uma mudada''. E descambou.

O terceiro disco foi estranho, eletrônico, fizeram shows-fiasco no Brasil (incluindo uma apresentação zoeira sem graça em playback em festa da MTV), Kele Okereke assumiu a homossexualidade e desencanou da banda, indo cantar solo umas musiquinhas dance-pop. Tudo muito estranho, para um grupo que tem um dos melhores guitarristas do rock inglês em anos e um baterista fera, sempre achei. E o Kele.

Eis que voltaram como banda, voltaram ''ao rock''e voltaram a flertar com o tempo em que eram relevantes na relevante cena britânica de novo rock de meados da década passada. Em agosto, acho, lançaram o quarto disco, que tem umas três/quatro músicas boas, e saíram fazendo showzinhos nos EUA. Mas ainda não foi o suficiente para tirarem eles do limbo em que eles mesmo se meteram.

Até agora, parece. Amigo meu que vive em Londres disse que a música deles, ''Truth'', novo single, com um vídeo em finalização, é candidata séria à famigerada fama de ''canção de natal 2012'' de tanto que anda tocando. Lentinha, ''sensível'', cheia de ''Uh uuus'', é a ''romântica do Bloc Party''.

Do outro lado do Atlântico, outra do novo disco, a ótima ''Octopus'', tem tocado bastante nas rádios americanas que interessam. Uma versão remix dela (Rac Mix) é minha predileta faz um mês para soltar em pista.

A banda inicia agora uma turnê grande europeia, logo de cara com quatro shows na França, porque os franceses amam muito Bloc Party. Em dezembro, fazem shows grandes na Inglaterra.

Vamos ficar de olho nesse giro da turma do Kele. Vamos ver se eles fazem por merecer nossa confiança de novo.

    Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
