Indies chocados: Flaming Lips na propaganda milionária de carro

* A velha polêmica indie voltou ontem, em pleno jogo do Super Bowl, a decisão da temporada do futebol americano e o momento mais visto no ano na TV. A velha banda psicodélica The Flaming Lips, herói de uma certa psicodelia doida que sai em forma de música da cabeça do líder, cantor e falador Wayne Coyne, ilustrou ontem um dos famosos comerciais trilionários que passa no intervalo da partida, o espaço mais caro da TV mundial.

O Flaming Lips mostrou sua música nova, a delícia ''Sun Blows Up Today'', canção alto-astral e veloz, num comercial de um minuto da marca de carros coreana Hyundai, onde Coyne aparece na mesa do café da família-personagem do reclame e a banda toca no telhado da casa, onde o Hyundai está na garagem, entre outros pequenos momentos de intersecção do indie com o mainstream, para milhões de americanos verem e ouvirem. Até a enorme bolha de plástico, marca registrada dos shows dos Lábios Flamejantes de Oklahoma, esteve presente.

Assim que o comercial passou no Super Bowl, a comunidade indie foi às redes sociais elogiar ou reclamar da participação ''vendida'' ou ''bizarra para o bem'' do Flaming Lips, no momento mais marketeiro do planeta. Para alguns indies, foi um ''sacrilégio''. No Twitter, um fã disse que nada define tão bem os EUA hoje em dia do que o Flaming Lips participar de uma propaganda de carro na TV.

Para além das imagens da banda no comercial milionário, a Hyundai promove a entrega de 100 mil downloads gratuitos de ''Sun Blows Up Today'' no site Epic PlayDate, a SUV que é o objeto da propaganda. A marca coreana afirmou ter escolhido os Flaming Lips pela identificação da banda com a Hyundai no sentido de ''eles serem especiais, lado-B e estão na estrada há muitos anos e estão sempre reinventando eles mesmos''.

''Sun Blows Up Today'', cujo áudio escapou semana passada, vai estar no álbum ''The Terror'', o 13º disco do Flaming Lips, a ser lançado no começo de abril, poucos dias depois da participação da banda no festival Lollapalooza, em São Paulo.

Outra atração musical que estrelou os comerciais do Super Bowl foi o megaastro coreano Psy, que dançou Gangnam Style com um pistache. E os Rolling Stones emprestam sua épica ''Sympathy for the Devil'' para uma propaganda de um novo Mercedes Benz.
