Popload entrevista: Alex Trimble, do Two Door Cinema Club

* Nome interessante do interessante line up do Lollapalooza, o mega festival que vai tomar de assalto o Jockey Club de São Paulo neste final de semana, o grupo irlandês Two Door Cinema Club promete um show cheio de energia no próximo sábado, 30. Bombando a turnê de divulgação de seu segundo álbum lançado ano passado, “Beacon”, o TDCC faz sua segunda visita ao país. A Popload entrevistou Alex Trimble, guitarrista e vocalista da banda britânica, que direto da Suíça falou um pouco sobre a primeira visita do grupo ao Brasil dois anos atrás e a vontade de ser o David Bowie no próximo disco. A matéria com o Trimble saiu editada hoje na Ilustrada, da “Folha de S. Paulo”, e é reproduzida abaixo na íntegra.

Para quem até uns quatro anos atrás nunca tinha saído do condado de Down, na Irlanda do Norte, a banda indie rock britânica Two Door Cinema Club já rodou bastante o mundo com sua música, desde que um EP, em 2009, causou uma certa comoção na internet e preparou a cena para o primeiro álbum, o festejado “Tourist History”, virar um dos discos mais comentados de 2010 .

Rodaram tanto o planeta lotando shows na Inglaterra, França, Japão, Austrália e EUA que agora nesta semana caem aqui no país, em São Paulo, para um show no Lollapalooza. E, veja, esta será a segunda visita já que o TDCC fará ao Brasil.
“Fizemos um show totalmente louco no Rio de Janeiro, com uma energia absurda, em 2011. E tocamos pertinho de São Paulo num festival que eu não lembro o nome”, diz Alex Trimble, guitarrista e vocalista da banda britânica, em entrevista à Popload de Zurique, na Suíça, no final de fevereiro, quando o grupo reiniciou uma nova etapa de turnê em 2013, ano no qual já percorreram Austrália, Singapura, Reino Unido e vários países da Europa.

“Desde que lançamos o primeiro disco nós tocamos em todos os lugares, mas na verdade não vimos quase nada deles por causa da correria de shows e viagens no dia seguinte”, conta Trimble.
A correria é tão grande que o “pertinho de São Paulo” a que Trimble se referiu é a praia de Atlântida, cidade litorânea a pouco mais de uma hora distante de Porto Alegre, no Sul. O Two Door Cinema Club veio ao país para tocar no Meca Festival 2011.

“Vimos pouco do Brasil da primeira vez, como sempre. Nosso percurso normal consiste no caminho aeroporto-hotel-show-hotel-aeroporto. Espero que desta vez pelo menos dê para sair na rua para uma caminhada, uma vez que não somos mais iniciantes assustados com tudo e temos agora um controle maior da nossa música e do nosso show.”

O Two Door Cinema Club vem ao Brasil com a turnê de seu segundo álbum, “Beacon”, lançado em agosto do ano passado, um mês antes de a banda ter sido escolhida para tocar nas cerimônias de abertura da Olimpíada de Londres. O segundo disco colheu muitas críticas favoráveis na linha “a banda amadureceu bem”, embora não tenha vindo carregado de hits instantâneos como o primeiro.
“Nosso segundo álbum não é tão ‘rápido’ nas músicas quanto o da nossa estreia. Ele é mais trabalhado, tem emoções nas letras e no som. O primeiro disco eu escrevi as músicas ainda adolescente. Conseguimos mudar nosso ritmo, domesticar um pouco nossa ansiedade e a pressa de dizer e mostrar coisas com um disco mais coeso e calmo, sem mudar nossa característica. Essas coisas que a gente viu ao redor do mundo, as pessoas que conhecemos, ajudaram a de fazer de ‘Beacon’ um disco bonito”, revela o líder da banda norte-irlandesa, que tem 23 anos hoje.

“Nosso terceiro álbum vai estar ainda melhor. Vou tentar ser o David Bowie”, brinca Trimble, o irlandês que está na Suíça falando com brasileiro e tem o mundo para percorrer novamente neste ano ainda, como a banda Forrest Gump da música independente, antes de o terceiro disco sair.

O Two Door Cinema Club toca no Jockey Club de São Paulo no sábado, dia 30, o segundo dia da programação do Lollapalooza Brasil. Na noite anterior a banda repete no Rio de Janeiro o show que fez no Circo Voador, dois anos atrás.
