* Quando a gente andava reclamando que a fabriquinha de bandas novas boas da Inglaterra estava produzindo pouco, principalmente em comparação à americana, os brits vêm e nos dão o quarteto Palma Violets, banda de moleques de Londres com um single forte e muito barulho em volta. Zane Lowe toca essa música faz um mês já na Radio One e cada vez mais parece desesperado ao anunciá-los. Na XFM, a canção toca tanto quanto a nova do Muse, ou ''Angels'' do XX.

Vamos resumir assim. Eles são os novos Howler-Vaccines-Arctic Monkeys-Libertines

A tal música, ''Best of Friends'', grudentaça, bota aí para ouvir enquanto lê aqui:

O Palma Valet conta a velha história do buzz, que ninguém sabe ao certo onde começa e quando percebe envolve todo mundo. Uns shows bem pequenos bombados, um elogio de alguém grande (Nick Cave e Damon Albarn falaram bem deles), umas demos boas espalhadas. E aí botaram os meninos (têm entre 19 e 21 anos) para abrir um show do Alabama Shakes no clube escocês King Tut's, o maior clube pequeno do mundo, tipo de lugar que o Oasis foi descoberto, por exemplo. Nessas já colocaram a banda para para abrir a tour do Vaccines. Enfiaram os caras num horário da tarde num palquinho do Reading Festival. Daí, pá, rolou um contrato com a Rough Trade. Tudo isso em três/quatro meses.

O som é algo normal de bandas inglesas de hoje, entre o garagem, o pop e o psicodélico. Alguém falou que o vocalista Sam Fryer tem a voz de um ''young Ian McCulloch''. Pronto, virou o mote. Doors é ''lembrado'' também, por causa do forte teclado de Pete Mayhew. Parece que, ao vivo, há uma energia de ''bromance'' entre o baixista Chilli Jesson e o cantor, Sam Fryer, também guitarrista da banda. Libertines é citado.

Não duvido nada que o ''New Musical Express'' dê uma capa para eles logo mais, viu…
