Candidato sério ao melhor disco de 2013, Johnny Marr lança música nova e diz que os Smiths inventaram o indie

Uma lenda do rock promete cavar seu espaço nas tendências musicais de 2013. Não que Johnny Marr precise provar alguma coisa para alguém, veja bem. É que o ex-guitarrista dos Smiths tem dito em alto e bom som que, quase cinquentão, está com o mesmo gás oitentista, quando era linha de frente da possível melhor banda do mundo na época.

No fim de 2012, Marr fez participação no show histórico do Dinosaur Jr. em Nova York. No final de semana, pipocou a notícia de que ele é um dos convidados do próximo disco de Carl Barat. Fora isso, Marr tem suas grandes coisas programadas.

Dia 26 de fevereiro chega ao mercado seu primeiro disco solo, “The Messenger”, obra que foi produzida pelo virtuoso guitarrista ex-Smiths em parceria com Frank Arkwright, que também já se envolveu em trabalhos daquela banda de Manchester, já tem pelo menos três ótimas amostras.

Além das já conhecidas “The Messenger” e “The Right Thing Right”, Marr solta agora a deliciosa “Upstarts”. Rock cru e vigoroso, bem Smiths. Aliás, em recente entrevista para o big Guardian, o guitarrista disse que os Smiths são os “pais do indie”. “Fomos nós que inventamos o indie como o conhecemos hoje. Se disserem que algumas partes do disco soam como Smiths, por mim tudo bem. Afinal, esperamos atingir o mesmo nível”, disse ele.
