O Wavves paranoico e a obsessão pela morte

Tem tanta coisa acontecendo aqui, aí e por aí que estou para falar desde o início da semana que o esperto grupo garage-lo-fi Wavves, que um dia fez a música com título mais cool de seu tempo – “I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl” – que foi lançada em um EP também de nome bacana, “Life Sux”, botou seu disco novo para audição no site da rede americana de rádios NPR. Semana passada eles fizeram SETE shows no South by Southwest, em Austin.

“Afraid of Heights” chega ao mercado na próxima segunda-feira, 26, junto com os novos trabalhos do Depeche Mode e dos Strokes, por exemplo. Este é o quarto registro de estúdio do duo de San Diego e vem para suceder “King of the Beach”, lançado três anos atrás.

O disco com “temática deprê” tem 13 faixas, foi produzido por John Mill (Santigold, M.I.A.), e fala especialmente sobre estar obcecado pela morte, de acordo com o vocalista Nathan Williams, que em recente entrevista também disse ter “questionado tudo em uma narrativa quase esquizofrênica” nas letras, não por ser um cara curioso, mas sim paranoico. Tenso.
